(From Parker Mortuary)Dixie Sue Ferris, age 84, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Solace House in Joplin.
Dixie was born July 14, 1937 in Joplin, daughter of the late Robert Earl Jackson and Pauline (Needham) Jackson. She grew up in Seneca and attended Seneca High School.
She married Donald M. Ferris on August 26, 1956 in Redings Mill, and spent her life devoted to him, and her children.
In her younger years she was a very good softball player, and she aways loved to bowl. She was a member of several leagues over the years at all three local bowling alleys. She was still enjoying this up until the age of 80.
She was also very devoted to her grandchildren, spending time with them reminiscing about the past. She also loved her pets, both cats and dogs. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Ferris who passed away on July 16, 2010; and a sister, Patty Taylor.

Survivors include her children, Vickie Roark and husband Bradley of Webb City, Stephen Ferris of Joplin, Julie Morgan and husband Ray of Joplin, and Mark Ferris and wife Glenda of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren, Cody Ferris, Chase Ferris, Hunter Ferris, Stevy Lilley, and Hayden Ferris; great-grandchildren, Carter Ferris and Karsyn Lilley; sister Beverly Baldwin of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will take place at Ozark Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Don.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Solace House of Joplin.
