On Tuesday morning, May 17, Patrick Wesley Lee joined his Lord in heaven at the age of 71. He finished remarkably well – living with glioblastoma for 14 months.
Patrick was born on 2/3/1951 and grew up in the care of Wes and Jeanne Lee of Lamar, MO. He graduated from Lamar High in 1968, from Mizzou in 1972, and settled near Columbia for his entire life.
More than anything else, Patrick loved Jesus. In his own words, reflecting on his 40th year of being a Christian: “So many things have not worked out how I hoped they would, prayed they would. My heart has been broken time and again. It is broken still. I have no answers for those things, only this: God is God, and I am not.

"By His grace, and only by His grace, I've never been tempted, even once, to leave Him. When many of Jesus' disciples abandoned him, and he asked Peter, ‘You do not want to leave too, do you?’ He answered, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life (Jn. 6:67-8).’ Where else is there to go? Nowhere! My battered-but-ever-stronger heart is full of gratitude to God for a course that began 40 years ago right about now!”
After Jesus, Patrick loved his kids: Jervon, Jerry who gave him Legacy and Kyson, Martha and Mitch who gave him Jace Patrick, Owen, and Reed, Joanna and Ryan who gave him Aliza, Macklin, and Drake, Shannon and Seth who gave him Scotland, Tabitha, Cale, and Adara, and Rebecca and Baker who gave him Lily and Elsa.

His final goal was to see each of these kids in quick succession, which he completed just before his departure to his next adventure. He was proud of the 24 arrows in his quiver.
After his kids, Patrick loved studying and speaking about early American history, tending his 27 acres, chips & dip & a beer at 5:00, playing a fierce game of Scrabble, time with friends & family, and Texas Hold ‘em with his Wednesday evening poker club. Patrick was a faithful blood donor of 50 years and had donated almost 26 gallons.
He is now on to the greatest adventure of all. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 10 am at The Crossing Church in Columbia.
