Charles “Dan” Captain age 66, rural Seneca, Mo passed away Monday November 18, 2013 following a short illness.
He was born December 7, 1946 in Miami, Ok. to Charles T. and Sarah Belle Thornbrugh Captain.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1989 as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Upon retirement he became a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. After returning to Southwest Missouri he became the General Manager of Border Town Bingo and Casino for 17 years. During this time he also held the elected positions of First Council Person and Second Chief for the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. He attended Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church.
He married Pamela Jo Gettys on December 1, 1969 in Miami, Ok and she survives. To this union three children were born. He is survived by his two sons; Charles Matthew Captain and wife Natalie of Hicksville Ohio, Jason Captain of Ft. Worth, Texas; one daughter Sarah Wallace and husband Jay of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Charles Daniel Captain II, Emily Brooke Captain, Garrett Connor Daffron, and Riley Anthony Captain; one sister Velva Jean Kelley and husband Leon Littleton; two nephews Danny Lee Triplett and wife Tina, John Ervin and wife Karen, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. and Sarah Captain, along with his sister Belva Jane Triplett.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 23, 2013 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel with Pastor Joe Crosthwait and Travis Walthall officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
