Dwight James Stanley, Sr., age 56 of Carterville passed away on Sunday November 17, 2013 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin after a sudden illness.
He was born on February 27, 1957 in Joplin, Missouri to Lincoln Stanley and Nelva Gibson Stanley. Dwight was a contractor in the construction business for most of his life. He loved to spend time with his family and was a great friend to anyone he knew. Dwight had an open door policy at this house and would help anyone he could to the best of his ability. He will be remember as a man with a huge heart.
Dwight is survived by his daughters, Britni Stanley and fiancé Tony Vickers of Webb City, Stephanie Stanley of Webb City, Tiffany Stanley of Carthage; sons, Dwight Stanley, Jr. of Granby, Shawn Wright of Joplin; brothers, Doyle Stanley and wife Carol of Riverton, Kansas, David Stanley of Joplin; sister, Sue Bertrand and husband Mike of Carterville; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Carterville Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of normal floral remembrances donations may be made to the family for his final expenses.
