Patti Michele Bland, 57, Neosho, died Nov. 7, 2013 at her home, following an illness.
Patti was born April 14, 1956 in Watseka, IL to Joe and Janice (Taylor) Akin. Patti moved to the area in 1994 from Alabama and worked as a home health aide; Independent Living and Trinity Hospice. She graduated from Crowder College and was a member of the National Honor Society and enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, traveling, visiting people in the nursing home and hospital and most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of the Cornerstone Bible Church and was very active in her church.
Patti and Larry Bland were married on May 19, 1998 at Seneca and he survives. Other survivors include her mother, Janice Akin, Yuma, AZ; six children, Adrian (Laurie) Baker, Decatur, AL; Keith (Leigh-Cron) Baker, Florence, AL; Theresa Baker Stier, Decatur, AL; Doug Bland, Dallas, TX; Ron (Anna) Bland, Dallas, TX and Susan Bland Nivin, Dallas, TX; a brother, Darrin Akin, Yuma, AZ; 15 grandchildren and her Missouri Parents, Roy Lee and Julia Lankford. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Byron Baker in 1996.
Services will be Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at 11 am at the Cornerstone Bible Church, Rev. Terry Swagerty will officiate. Interment will be in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning at the church from 10 am until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Patti may be made to the Cornerstone Bible Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850-0066.
