Eloise Carr, age 83, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 in Rogers, Arkansas. She was born on June 5th, 1930 in Richey, Missouri, the daughter of the late Nora and William Allen Curtis.
Eloise resided in Baxter Springs, Kansas for 35 years where she was a faithful member of the Baxter Springs Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Baxter Springs Country Club and Joplin Golf Club at Schifferdecker, where she played golf for many years. In addition, she was a lifelong member of the Joplin Woman’s Club and played bridge as often as she could. After moving to Joplin, she became a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Eloise married Robert H. Carr on March 25, 1956 in Galena, Kansas and supported him in his many business ventures during their 52 year marriage. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2008. The family takes comfort in knowing that they will once again be re-united under God’s loving care.
“Ellie” will always be remembered as wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and leaves behind a daughter, Saundra L. Carr and partner Stan Cooper of Seneca; one son, Robert H. Carr II and his wife Kimberly of Rogers; three grandchildren, Caleb Carr, Taylor Carr, and Gracie Carr; siblings, Bill Curtis and wife Rusty, Lewiston, Idaho; Jim Curtis and wife, Inga, Lostine, Idaho; Carl Curtis and wife Margaret, Pocatello, Idaho; Cathy Huddleston, Meridian, Idaho; Jane Curtis, Boise, Idaho; and Grace Plant and her husband Al, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Neil Curtis.
Services are planned for Friday at 2:00pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Joplin. Entombment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
