Jackie Leon Daugherty, 66, Neosho, died Nov. 13, 2013 at Seneca House in Seneca, following a long illness.
Jackie was born Dec. 29, 1946 in Neosho, the son of Gene and Georgia R. (Hood) Daugherty. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Neosho High School. Jack belonged to the Ironworkers Local Union No. 584 and did iron work for 35 years. He and his wife lived on a farm outside of Neosho where Jack loved his long horn cattle. He spent many hours making iron art for family and friends and loved his old trucks and tractors and anything he could piddle with. Following Jack’s retirement from ironwork, he worked for Best Western Motel doing maintenance until his death.
Jack is survived by his wife of 23 years, Shirley; two sons, Jackie (Heather) Daugherty, Joplin and Jason (Karen) Daugherty, Neosho; three stepchildren, Don (Susie) Bradley, Stark City; Bobby Jo Bradley and Sherry Eberley, Neosho; his sister, Peggy Daugherty McBride, Neosho; a grandson, Brady Daugherty, Neosho; six step grandchildren, Abby, Mason, Ashley, Sam and Misty Dawn; a niece, Lorie Howard, Neosho and a nephew, Robert Evans, Jr., Hollywood FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nancy K. Daugherty and Connie S. Evans Smith; one niece, Jeniffer Evans and two nephews, Christopher Lee and Dustin Lee. Jack will be missed by a lot of good friends and family. I love you Butch, your little sister, Peg.
