Karen Elaine Camden Tate, age 67 of Seneca, MO, passed away at her home 1:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2013.
Born June 27, 1946 in Champaign, IL, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Edna Banner Camden, and lived in the Joplin area since 1982. Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She retired as a case worker with the Division of Family Services with 18 years of service. A member of Racine Christian Church, she served on the Missions Committee. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
On July 5, 1969 she married John Tate in Fisher, IL. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Justin Tate of Carl Junction, Jason Tate and wife Salena of Carl Junction; two daughters, Gina McGrew and husband John of Joplin, Carey Clawson and husband Daniel of Larkspur, CO; six grandchildren, Jack, Carter, Evalyn, Meredith, Grace and Sadie; a sister, Marolyn Fehr and husband Dick of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Ronald Camden of Chicago, IL; many extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with John St. Clair, minister officiating. The family will receive friends at Racine Christian Church from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. At her request, the casket will remain closed at all times.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Missouri Alzheimer’s Association in care of Parker Mortuary.
