Harold Dean Griffoth, age 79, Joplin, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, November 06, 2013 at Galena Nursing Center after an illness.
Harold was born March 9, 1934 in Pineville, Missouri to the late Edward Griffoth and Martha Chandler Griffoth and had lived in Joplin since 1951.
He worked for the City of Joplin for several years in both the sanitation department and the wastewater treatment facility. He was a member of Southwest Missouri Friendship Council of the Blind and a longtime member of First Gospel Workers Church.
Harold married Helen Ruth Ames on September 26, 1983 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 16, 1999.
Harold is survived by two brothers, Ronnie Griffoth and Ralph Griffoth, both of Joplin; one sister, Ruby Smith, Independence, Kansas; and several extended family members.
Graveside services are planned for Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
