David C. Dawley, age 59, of Midland, Texas, a former Diamond and Joplin area resident passed away at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland following a sudden illness. Dave was born May 28, 1954 in Corona, California. He lived in the Joplin-Diamond area in the late 60’s and early 70’s and graduated from Diamond High School in 1972. He also attended Crowder College. Dave was associated with the J.C. Penney Company for 40 years and was currently the manager of the Midland, Texas store, a position he had for the last three years.
Dave married Carol Showalter July 26, 1975 in Diamond, Mo. and she survives. Additional survivors include his parents, Fred and Rachel Dawley, Joplin, and two brothers, Larry Dawley, Shawnee, Ks., and Jim Dawley and wife Susan, Carthage, Mo.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Diamond Christian Church with Mike Whorlow, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Diamond Cemetery. Those honoring Dave’s life by serving as pallbearers will be Gene Talbott, Dean Talbott, Broc Witt, Wayne Morgan, Jim Dawley, and Nathan Dawley.
Memorial contributions are requested to the High Sky Children’s Ranch in Midland, Texas in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
