Glen L. Baker, age 78, Joplin, went to be with his Lord, and late wife, Helen P. Baker, on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Freeman West Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Glen was born April 15, 1935 in Hallowell, Kansas, son of the late Glen G. Baker and Florence Box Baker. He was a welder and mechanic all of his adult life, and worked with Fleming Foods for 30 years before retiring in 1994 as lead diesel mechanic.
Glen was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge # 345, and the Joplin Shrine Temple. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and being outside, especially gardening. He was also an excellent craftsman working with wood. He was a member of Tennessee Prairie Friends Church.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Helen P. Baker, who died April 2, 2005; his brothers, Alfred, Freddie, and Orville; and a grandson, Baby Harold.
Survivors include his five children, Janice Ann Hughey and husband Luke Kerby, Debbie Bandy all of Galena, Sherry Greenlee and husband Leslie of Joplin, Harold Leroy Wilson of Galena, Roger A. Wilson and Rayann of Joplin; sisters, Peggy Slankard of Joplin and Joyce Crowder of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dave Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Luke Kerby, Les Greenlee, Jasen Hamilton, Matthew Alderman, Shane Hamilton, and Shawn Gray serving as pallbearers.
There will be a Masonic Service on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with visitation to follow.
