Michael L. Carey “Mike”, age 61 of Webb City, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his home, with his family by his side.
Mike was born May 6, 1952 in Webb City to William and Phyllis “Jeannie” Hostetter Carey. He was a 1970 Webb City High School Graduate and attended the Joplin Junior College. Mike was a realtor and the owner/operator of the Quaker Miller Park and Grocery. Most of his time was spent outdoors where he loved to spend time at the river, fish and drive his tractor. His children were his prize possession and he adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed his outings to the casino, as well.
Mike is survived by his dad, William Carey, children, Amy Gannaway and husband Rod and Misty Ray and husband Rob; grandchildren, Ashley, Shylynn and Chandler Ray and Gavin and Kerrington Gannaway; Great Grandchildren Quinlee and Grady Ebbs; sister, Linda Cook and husband David; a brother, Bill Carey and Mike’s significant other, Jackie Henslee. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, Alan Carey and a sister, Elizabeth Carey.
A memorial visitation will be Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mike L. Carey Benefit at Southwest Missouri Bank (SMB) to help with medical expenses.
Mike was a great guy. The whole family misses him still today. I miss Papa Mike
