Elvin Knott

Mr. Elvin Veto Knott, 73, of Stella, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Arkansas Veterans Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Elvin entered this life on October 25, 1942, in Wake County, North Carolina, son of the late Linwood and Ethel (Mangum) Knott. He was raised on a tobacco farm in Wake County and attended Green Hope School in Morrisville, North Carolina. On November 6, 1964, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. Elvin was honorably discharged on November 5, 1970, with a Purple Heart from injuries received in the line of duty. For over twenty-six years he was employed by General Motors in Santa Fe Springs, California, in their parts division. After retiring he moved to Stella, Missouri, in May of 1995, enjoying his time raising rabbits.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Billy, Jerry and Bobby Knott and Imogene Salotti.

Elvin is survived by four sons, Steven Knott of Kingman, Arizona, David Knott and wife, Angela, of Bentonville, Arkansas, Daniel Knott and wife, Melissa, of Stella, Missouri and Phillip Knott and wife, Spring, also of Stella, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Knott are 12:00 noon Friday, January 15, 2016, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark Sumler officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Union Cemetery near Stella, Missouri. His four sons will honor his life by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Wounded Warrior Project and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
