Murle Lassman

Murle Edwin Lassman, age 78 of Carl Junction, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Spring River Christian Village.

Born February 8, 1937 in Wichita, KS, he was the son of the late Otto and Elsa Baggett Lassman and was raised in Wichita. He received his Bachelor degree in accounting from Pittsburg State University. He had lived in the Joplin area since 1994, moving from Overland Park, KS. A cost accountant all of his working life, most recently, he worked at Brunner Fabrication in Joplin. Murle served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS McKinley. He was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, where he served as treasurer and council member. He also served on the board of Home Medical Equipment Services (formerly the Arthritis Association).

On February 11, 1961 he married Edna Christiansen at St. John Lutheran Church in Pittsburg. During their 54 years of marriage, they enjoyed serving their community and churches, traveling, and spending time with their family and friends.

Additional survivors include children, Ron Lassman (Debra) of St. Louis, Dianne Wolkenhauer (Mark) of Redlands, CA, Doug Lassman (Kelli) of Olathe, KS, Jon Lassman (Jen) of Lee's Summit, MO; 15 grandchildren, Eric, Scott, Emily, Michael, Jake, Zach, Norah, and Theo Lassman, Jordan, Kelsi and Logan Shiao, Sarah Bartczak (Brad), Anne, Elizabeth, and Caroline Wolkenhauer; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Bartczak; brothers, Lawrence Lassman (June) of Vienna, VA, Keith Lassman (Claudene) of Salina, KS; sisters-in-law, Helen Lassman of Longmont, CO and Alice Lassman of Lawrence, KS. He is preceded in death by brothers Carl and Gene Lassman.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Katharine Redpath officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Private interment will be in Edgmand Cemetery near Columbus, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Home Medical Equipment Services.
