Donald Dean “D.D.” Overton, age 81, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, in his home.
He was born February 23, 1935 in Wheaton, Missouri, the son of Wayne R. and Hazel Dean (Higgs) Overton. In 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Shafer who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a stepdaughter, Judith Lewis and one brother David Overton.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick Climer of St. Petersburg, Florida and Stanley Climer of Louisiana; two daughters, Terri Myers of Frazier Park, California and Diana Kuhlers of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Cortni, Mishal and Christina Myers and one great granddaughter, Catherine Mishal.
D.D. grew up and received his education at Wheaton where he graduated from high school. He was an over the road truck driver for Tri State in Joplin for several years. From March 22, 1956 until October 18, 1957 he served in the United States Navy.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Rex Black will conduct the services.
