(From Parker Mortuary)Barbara Capps, age 91, Springfield, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at The Arbors at Lakewood, Springfield, after an illness.
Barbara was born June 13, 1929 in Joplin to the late Paul R. Hamilton and Beryl Kelley Buckner and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
Barbara worked as a legal secretary after college, and then for the Missouri Department of Transportation. She was of the Baptist faith and held memberships at Forest Park, Harmony Heights and Eastview Baptist Churches over the years. Barbara loved to read and spend time with her family. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Barbara married Donald Leroy Capps on November 20, 1953 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Hamilton.
Survivors include a daughter, Missy Oglesby and husband, Kent, Springfield; a son, David Capps and wife, Pam, Port Washington, New York; two half brothers, James F. Hamilton, Springfield, Utah, John Hamilton, Louisville, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Drew Oglesby and wife, Hope, Taylor Oglesby, Rachel Oglesby, Ryan Capps, Danny Capps and Trevor Capps; and one great-granddaughter, Avery Oglesby.
A private, graveside service for family only is planned at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
