(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Howard Leon Olds, age 50 passed away at 10:57 pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.
Howard was born March 9, 1970 in Baxter Springs, KS. His parents were Howard Olds Sr and Sandy M (Woods) Olds. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.
As a young man, he worked as a carrier and in the mail room at the Joplin Globe. He took great pride in his job and developed lasting friendships with his patrons. He always wanted to help people.
He was an American Indian in the Quapaw Nation. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Riverton, KS. Howard’s favorite pastime was collecting ’57 Chevys.
Surviving is one son, James Olds (wife, Melissa), Joplin, MO; his parents, Howard and Sandy Olds Sr, Galena; one sister, Kay Henady (husband, Brad), Baxter Springs, KS; one niece, Shae Addington (husband, Kyle), Dallas, TX; and one nephew, Bradley Henady (wife, Ashlee), Joplin.
Howard was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. No services are planned.
