Lynda Oldt

Lynda Dianne Oldt, 71, of Carl Junction, Missouri, departed this life on Friday evening, October 16, 2020, surrounded by family.

Lynda was born April 28, 1949 in Carthage, Missouri, daughter of the late Harold and Mary Louise (Studyvin) Kaughman. In her junior year of high school, she moved from Joplin to Virginia, Minnesota, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1967. 

On October 15, 1968, she married Robert Franklin “Bob” Oldt. They established their home in Joplin in 1972 following Robert's service in the U.S. Navy. She was a devoted homemaker and a licensed cosmetologist. 








For a time, she was employed by Benefits Settlements and The Insurancenter in Joplin. She enjoyed playing the accordion and piano, loved animals, and was a talented seamstress. Lynda had been a member of Calvary Baptist in Joplin and First Baptist Church in Webb City. She was a member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. As an MSSU Lionbacker, Lynda was an avid basketball fan.

Lynda is survived by Bob Oldt; their three daughters, Pamela Darnell (Bryce) of Webb City, Roberta Cowger (Bryan) of Ijamsville, Maryland, and Angela Hodges (Jeremy) of Miami, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Kylie Cowger, Darcy Darnell, Tanner Hodges, Sadie Jo Cowger, Cy Darnell, Cohen Hodges, and JoLee Cowger; a sister, Martha Eddy (Robert) of Carl Junction; a brother, Roger Kaughman (Holly) of Joplin; along with other family and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in the chapel of Parker Mortuary with Chaplain Robert Mattingly officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. 

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Roger Kaughman, Jeremy Hodges, Tanner Hodges, Kari Kaughman, Flave Darnell, and Kaylor Darnell. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be directed to the Joplin Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association c/o the mortuary. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
