(From Knell Mortuary)Agnes Elizabeth Kennedy Stroud, 88, Carthage, Missouri, formerly of Ft. Worth, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning, October 14, 2020 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage.
Agnes was born February 8, 1932 in Newton County, Missouri, the daughter of John and Florence (Knoetzel) Szydloski. She was a graduate of Pierce City High School, Class of 1950.
Agnes met the love of her life, Marvin Kennedy, in San Diego, California and they were married July 24, 1954. They moved to Midland, Texas during that year and both worked with companies related to the oil business.
In 1967, they moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, spending a lot of their leisure time fishing, hunting, and square dancing. Marvin passed away on October 31, 1983.
In 1988, Agnes met Charles Stroud, an air force retiree, and a great guy. They were happily married on May 21, 1988 in Ft. Worth, Texas. They also fished and traveled a lot, including a trip to Hawaii on their honeymoon. Charles passed away on May 16, 2003. In 2005, Agnes moved back to Missouri to be near family and settled in Carthage.
Survivors include several nieces including three godchildren, Kathy Merritt and husband Bob, Nancy Walsh and husband Steven, and Ashlee Haynes and husband Tim; sister, Gladys Filarski; step daughter, Susie Saucier; step grandsons, Sean Saucier and wife Jessica, and Shane Saucier; seven step great-grandchildren, all in Texas; several nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Marvin and Charles; sisters, Mildred Holland and husband Ken, Helen Boursheski and husband Alvin, Pauline Raper and husband Dick; brothers, John R. Szydloski and wife Wilma, and Wayne T. Szydloski and wife Mary; brother-in-law, Frank Filarski; and nephews, Joe Raper and Raymond Szydloski.
Funeral mass will be held 12:30 pm, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage. The family asks that if you are attending the service to please wear a face mask. Burial will be held 2 pm, Monday, October 19, 2020 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Ft. Worth, Texas. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
