(From Parker Mortuary)Violet Pearl Spencer, age 89, Wyandotte, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Washington Regional Health Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Violet was born November 2, 1930 in Jericho Springs, Missouri, daughter of the late John E. Harper and Mabel Leona Flagg Harper. She moved to Joplin in 1953, and worked for years as a hairdresser in Joplin, owning Violet's House of Glamour. She also sold real estate with Century 21.
After her retirement, she moved to the lake in 2002. She loved spending time with family, baking, crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, and china painting. Violet's favorite pastime was spoiling her grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her sisters, Maxine Yount, Juanita Howlett, Velma Simpson, Betty Jean Yockum, and Dorothy L. Harper; brothers, Jerry Harper, John J. Harper, and Bobbie D. Harper; and a grandson, Curry W. Stricker.
Survivors include her sons, Russell Lee Spencer (Terri), Greg Spencer, and Dennis Spencer; daughter, Pam England (Todd); grandchildren, Travis Spencer (Tara), Kristopher Spencer (Katelyn), Stephanie Hackney (Jordan), Taylor Ruddick (Kaleb), Sydney Spencer; great-grandchild, Jaylee Hackney; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Alan McCamey officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
For those attending visitation and services, masks will be required and social distancing measures will be implemented.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
