(From Parker Mortuary)Richard Neal Phipps, 82, of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Richard was born March 27, 1938 in Galena, Kansas to Alva and Eva (Webb) Phipps. He was a 1955 graduate of Galena High School.
Following graduation, Richard served in the National Guard as a Military Policeman. He worked at Allied Signal as an inspection supervisor, retiring in 1992 after 30 years. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, a caring father, and one of the strongest men his son, Steve, has ever known. He will be greatly missed.
On August 10, 1963 Richard married Gaylen Ruth Ryan. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Eva; and his brother and sister, Bill and June.
He is survived by his son, Steve Phipps, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
