Coy Mayfield

William “Coy” Mayfield, age 65, of Noel, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, in the comfort of his home with family at his side.



Coy was born April 4, 1956, in Fairfield, Illinois, was raised by his late mother Janet Tompkins and stepfather John Tompkins, along with his late father William “Coy” Mayfield Sr. grew up in Butler, Pennsylvania where he attended Butler High School. Coy was united to the love of his life, Karen Monnie, on July 14, 1977.








Coy was a patriotic, traditional man who always had some great adventure in the works, whether it be a new challenge at his machine shop or sightseeing outdoors at a historic site or in the yard with a metal detector. Coy enjoyed classic cars, Sunday drives, and had a never-ending fascination with flying. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help anyone. He was a loyal friend to many and made a large imprint on many lives.

He was a wonderful father of two children and grandfather to four grandchildren. Coy was an admirable son and big brother, a true caretaker for all, always putting the needs of others before his own.

In addition to his parents, Coy was preceded in death by; a half-brother William “Crawdad” Mayfield; a stepbrother John Tompkins Jr; a stepbrother Robert Tompkins, and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife Karen Mayfield of Noel, MO; son Matthew Mayfield of Noel, MO, daughter Sarah Shoemaker (William) of Gravette, AR; sister, Laurie Shafer of Cloverdale, IN; brother, Michael Mayfield (Judy) of Green Forest, AR; brother Randy Mayfield (Rebecca) of Carrollton, AR; sister Elizabeth Kienzynski (Robert) of Cloverdale, IN; sister Rebecca Laden of Green Forest, AR and sister Amy Ledesma of Green Forest, AR; step-brother Alan “Lee” Tompkins (Marcia) of Pikesville, TN; Frederick Dean Tompkins of Butler, PA; together with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, MO. The visitation will be 10:00 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am with David Barber officiating. A wake will be held after at the Fellowship Hall for the United Methodist Church in Noel, MO.
