Lawrence Shorter

Lawrence Wayne Shorter, Jr., of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, in his home at the age of 73.

He was born on August 9, 1948 in Norwood, MO to Lawrence Wayne Shorter, Sr. and Ruth (Mason) Shorter. Junior graduated from Missouri Rolla with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He served in the Army National Guard. 










He was united in marriage to Carolyn Kay Evans on October 14, 1967 in Cedarville, MO, and she preceded him in death. Junior married Virginia Lorene (Boehne) Johnson on May 3, 2014 in Lockwood, MO. He worked as a Truck Driver for Borgen Systems where he met many friends. Junior loved wood working, telling stories of when he was a truck driver, and playing dominos with his family. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Shorter; his wife, Carolyn Shorter; and one brother, Mel Shorter.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Shorter of the home; two sons, Alan Shorter of Scottsburg, IN, and Scott Shorter and wife Teri of Monett, MO; one daughter, Stacy Wellinger and husband Vince of Bolivar, MO; one step-daughter, Leesa Grubaugh and husband Keith of Branson, MO; two brothers, Jim Shorter and wife Pam of Lockwood, MO and Mike Shorter and wife Kaye of Lockwood, MO; one sister, Sherry Hack and husband Goldie of Surprise, AZ; one sister-in-law, Debbie Broyles of Lockwood, MO; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Lockwood Christian Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lockwood Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood Christian Church, the American Cancer Society, or to the Camp Hertko Hollow in Des Moines, IA. Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
