Virgil Glenn

Virgil Lee Glenn, 94, of Pittsburg, Kansas, died Wednesday, December 1 2021.

He was born May 14, 1927 at Lamar, Missouri to William and Carrie (Clark) Glenn. He grew up in Dade County, Missouri and attended Greenfield schools. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged.








In 1949, Virgil moved to Pittsburg, Kansas, to begin his career in music at KOAM Radio and later, KOAM Television-working a total of 37 years for the company. He was also employed by Hudson Oil Company, where he worked for 18 years. In later years, he worked for General Machinery of Pittsburg-retiring from that company after 19 years. He was a longtime member of the Pittsburg Free Holiness Church.

Virgil married Shirley Sanders on April 20, 1970. In addition to his wife, Virgil is survived by his family and loved ones: Jeffery Glenn, Shaun Higgins, Kathryn Young & family, Whitney Rivers & Family, nieces Betty Alford and Shirley Guinn, nephews Doyen Korth, Donald Morrow, Jack Killingsworth and Randy Wilson.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Virgil’s final resting place will be Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a contribution to the family to create and education fund for the newest generation of Virgil’s family. These may by mailed to P.O.
