Joe Hoyt

Joe Antonio Hoyt, age 82, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of West Virginia, passes away following a short illness at 7:13 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was born May 12, 1940, in San Diego, California, the son of the late Jennie (Osuna) and John Hoyt Sr.

On July 12, 1974, he married Orvillene “Sis” Lanham in Chelyan, West Virginia. 









Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served during the Vietnam war and worked as a Medical Records Specialist for 20 years. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked at DuPont Chemical Plant and Talbot Wire as a security guard and ended his career at Freeman Hospital, where he worked as a floor tech.

In 2000 Joe and Orvillene moved from West Virginia to Neosho to be near their family. He loved bowling, working outside and in his garden, and spending time with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Orvillene of the home; two daughters, Kristie Hughes and Elizabeth Cosper; one sister, Ernestine Friend; one brother, Richard Hoyt, all of Neosho; two grandchildren, Morgan Holstine and her husband David of Charleston, West Virginia and David Hughes of Neosho; four great-grandchildren, John, Cali, and Sawyer Snodgrass and Colt Holstine; and a host of dear nieces, nephews, and family members.








In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Ryan, Virginia Wiman, Grace Hoyt, and Eleanor Moore, his brother, John “BB” Hoyt, Jr; his beloved niece, Teresa Marquez and son-in-law Michael Hughes.

The Clark Funeral Home in Neosho has conducted local arrangements. A private family service will be held at a later date.
