Bob Conway

Michael Robert "Bob" Conway, age 82, of Freistatt, MO passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. 

Bob was born in Melrose, IA on Tuesday, December 3, 1940. He was the son of Michael Donald and Catherine (Callahan) Conway. Bob graduated from Melrose High School in Melrose, IA in 1959. Bob served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. 

He raised horses and spent many, many hours riding and racing them. Bob won the Iowa Futurity among many other wins while racing. He was a "horse whisperer" who rode in many rodeos and did tricks with his horses. Bob also enjoyed watching Westerns, deer hunting and the outdoors. He looked forward to spending time with his boys each Sunday when they'd go to breakfast and church together. Bob took pride in his sons and looked forward to their conversations and visits. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are the following: two sons, Robert "Buck" Conway of Sheldon, MO and Rodrick "Rod" Conway of Joplin, MO; one daughter, Tracy Renae Conway of Iowa; two brothers, Jerry Conway and Brian Conway of Iowa; four sisters, Bernadine Judge and Sandra Weesner of Iowa, Marilyn (Dennis) Roach of Arizona, Barbara (Larry) Crowell of Missouri; a sister-in-law, Barbara Conway of Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM.

Memorial Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Monday, July 24, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM with Father William Hennecke officiating.

Memorials may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers or American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
