(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Shirley Ann Hipp, age 88, passed away at 2:04 pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO following an illness.
Shirley was born Jul 5, 1935 in Lanagan, MO. Her parents were John Chester and Lorene Jean (Lowell) Charles. She was raised in Galena KS and graduated from High school there.
She had lived in Joplin the past 40 years, moving from Weatherford, OK. She had worked at the 3-M plant in Weatherford retiring after 33 years, never missing a shift. She enjoyed taking a daily walk, embroidery, and taking trips with the senior citizens.
She was married to Delmar Q Hipp on July 19, 1957 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death November 27, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, and her twin sons; Terry at 2 weeks old, and Jerry in 2007
Surviving is one brother, Sam Charles (Debra), Joplin, O and two grandchildren, Blake Hipp and Tabitha Swenson.
Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Doug Wilkerson will officiate.
