Peggy Mell

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

We gather to remember and celebrate the life of Peggy Mell, born Peggy May Musgrave on May 11, 1927, in Joplin, Missouri. Peggy spent her days happily entrenched in the community she loved, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who had the good fortune to know her.

Peggy was a woman of many passions, but at the heart of them all was her love for people. This love was evident in her years as a devoted merchandiser in the stationary company, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication.

An active member of the Webb City Senior Center, she reveled in the camaraderie of her peers. Her love for classical country music lit up her eyes and warmed her spirit, and her fondness for crossword puzzles, word searches, and reading only highlighted her intelligence and her zest for life. As Albert Schweitzer once said, "The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve."

Peggy's love extended most fervently to her family. She leaves behind her husband, Elvin Mell, and her devoted daughter, Carol White, and son-in-law, James White. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Eva Musgrave, her son, Randall Mell, and her siblings, Colleen Marshall, Robert Marshall, and Jerry Marshall. Each of these relationships was precious to Peggy, and she cherished the time she shared with her loved ones.

The visitation for Peggy Mell will take place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, located at 400 West Daugherty Street, Webb City, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the same location. As we gather to remember Peggy, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us."

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Solace House of the Ozarks in Joplin, Missouri.

Services are under the personal care and direction of Simpson Funeral Home. The family encourages relatives and friends to visit www.simpsonfh.com to share photos and memories of Peggy.
