Judy Edwards

(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)

Judith Earlene Snyder Edwards was born on September 19, 1951, in Monett, Missouri, to Earl and Naomi Snyder. She attended elementary and high school in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She graduated in the top 10 of her class and was involved in many activities. She was president of FTA and FHA her senior year of high school. She was also involved in speech/drama, school plays, Junior Rotarians, and 4-H.

She helped on her large family farm and campaigned for her father (Earl Snyder) who was the Lawrence County Assessor for 24 years. Her loving mother (Naomi Cross Snyder) was a very Godly woman and the Matriarch of her family. Judy, like her mother, had a very strong faith in God which was demonstrated through her acts of kindness toward others.

She attended Greenville College in Greenville, IL. She graduated in 1973 with a B.A. in Secondary Education and Home Economics. In 1971, she married Jerry Edwards. After graduation while living in Morton, Illinois, she worked as a tour guide, a U.S. postal worker, and an elementary teachers’ aide before securing a 6th grade teaching position. She then earned a graduate degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Missouri State University and taught 3rd and 6th grade in Mt. Vernon.

Judy felt her greatest joy in life was her two children and one grandchild, Isaac Joseph Martin Edwards. Her kids are David Edwards, his wife Amy, and their son Isaac from Chatham, Illinois. Julie Edwards Kleeman and her husband Cajun Kleeman of Lockwood, Missouri.

Other than her children, Judy felt her closest friends made this world a better place. She was thankful for her friend and sister in Christ, Brenda Parkhurst Schmidt. She was also loved and cared for by Sherry Bowling who provided in home care for her during the last few years of her life. She was also very close to her dear friends, Tom and Debbie Kepka, Barbara Walker Agee, and Susan Cameron Lee. She had so many good friends throughout her life it would be impossible to name them all.

Her brother, Joseph Earl Snyder who now lives at Oak Pointe Memory Care in Carthage, Missouri, was her constant inspiration and companion with a loving heart and close walk with God.

Judy is survived by her loving children, grandson, brother, and two sisters, Alma Anne Miles Koch of Macungie, Pennsylvania and Joyce Elaine Snyder Sorenson of Bonner Springs, Kansas.

At her request, no visitation or funeral will be planned. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Emergency Children’s Fund of Mt. Vernon and for a college trust fund for her only grandchild, Isaac.

A private family burial was held at the Salem Cemetery under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
