Roger Battagler

(From Parker Mortuary)

Roger Kent Battagler, age 66, Carl Junction, passed away in London, Canada while on a motorcycle trip to Toronto.

Roger was born August 27, 1956 in Orrick, MO, son of the late Cecil R. Battagler and Zoe M. (Dyer) Battagler. He grew up in Orrick and Richmond attended school there before joining the United States Army as a 17-year-old. He proudly served his country from 1973 through 1977 getting an honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant.

He has been an over the road truck driver all his adult life. He was owner/operator of his truck and also at one time owned a trucking company with a fleet of semi trucks. He had a passion for traveling the country in his truck and took pride in the work he did. Through the years he was the recipient of countless safety and outstanding driver awards. He was constantly working to keep his rig on the road, his beloved 1997 Peterbilt (Beasty) had over 2,000,000 miles on it, and he was still using that truck.

He loved adventure and was always planning his next motorcycle ride or camping trip with family and friends. He enjoyed his trips to the Philippines and to Canada to spend time with Rizza. He never met a stranger and could talk for hours giving advice and solving world problems.

The road kept him away a lot but he always stayed connected with his friends and family. He loved them deeply and worked selflessly to ensure he could care for them and often would go without to ensure that they were taken care of. He was known for his generosity and would have given his last dollar and the shirt off his back to a stranger. He helped and touched countless lives and will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Battagler and Rick Battagler; and a sister, Rachelle Battagler-Jones.

He is survived by his children, Tina Clancy and husband Shane of Marshfield, Mo, Tiffeny Fulmer and husband Richard of Kampsville, IL, Tracy Battagler of Blairstown, Mo, Travis Battagler and wife Erin of Carl Junction Mo; companion, Rizza Balaong of Toronto, Canada; grandchildren, Christopher Clancy, Amanda Sheeley, Mathew Clancy, Dylan Stanley, Nick Stanley, Christopher Stanley, Alysha Cantwell, Zachery Cantwell, Ariel Cantwell, Patrick Cantwell, Luke Battagler, Olivia Battagler, brother, Russ Battagler and wife Wendy of Orrick, MO, sister Renee Bartley and husband Ron of Raysville, MO; several nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
