Lenora Darland

Lenora Faye Darland, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 14, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri. Lenora was born September 25, 1948, in Carthage, Missouri, to Delbert Carter and Marcella (Bryant) Carter. 

Lenora was part of the Class of 1966 in Miller, Missouri. She was a longtime Reeds/Carthage resident. 

Lenora operated Lenora's Beauty Shop in Carthage, Missouri for many years. She was also the head cook at Can-Do Senior Center in Carthage until 2019. 








Lenora was a longtime member of Center Point Christian Church in Carthage, Missouri. She enjoyed spending time with her family, tending to her flowers, crafting, listening to music and spending time in the word of God. She had a big heart and was always showing love and kindness to those around her. Many of her 'kids' considered her a second mom or grandma and she loved them as her own.

Lenora was united in marriage to Larry Darland September 16, 1978, in Miller, MO; he preceded her in death December 27, 2005.

Lenora is survived by Stepson Daniel Darland (Norma) of Carthage; Stepdaughter, Amy Darland (Andrew Davenport) of Parsons, Kansas; Daughter, Charlene Smith (Weston) of Carthage; sixteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; three brothers, Max Carter (Kathleen), Wayne Carter (Kim), and Ray Carter (Melissa); and three sisters, Emma Bradley, Rilla Leeper (Tom), and Melody Hurst (Kent); along with many nieces and nephews.








Lenora is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Delbert and Marcella Carter; and a brother Phillip Carter.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 21, 2023, at Christpoint Church in Galena, Kansas. A private burial will be at Fasken Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
