(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Peggy Joyce Weldin, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 1:42 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Republic, Missouri. She was born October 12, 1940, in Paris, Arkansas, the daughter of James W. and Alice Lorene (Kelly) Goldsworthy.
Peggy was a 1958 graduate of Paris High School in Paris, Arkansas. She was a central service technician, at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, for 20 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Living Water Church in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
On October 14, 1961, she married Richard Lewis Weldin, Sr. in El Rio, California. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2022.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Lorna Lanphier and her husband, Mike, of Republic, Missouri; one son, Richard Lewis Weldin, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; one brother, Bobby Goldsworthy, of Paris, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Grant Lanphier of Springfield, Missouri, Sarah Marrero and her husband, Luis, of Republic, Missouri and Kristin Hudson of Joplin, Missouri and one great-grandson, Oliver Hudson.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James, and Alice; her husband, Richard; four brothers, Buford, Ralph and J.W. Goldsworthy and Kelly Lee Kelly and four sisters, Loretta Garrett, Barbara Mars, Betty Ellis, and Helen Spaethe.
No services are planned at this time. A burial will be held at a later date at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
