(From Parker Mortuary)Marilyn Sue Gibson went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the age of 75. Marilyn was born to George M. Cummins and Evelyn R. (McCullough) Cummins on September 23, 1947, both of whom preceded her in death.
Marilyn graduated from Joplin High School in 1965 and soon went to work for Southwestern Bell where she worked for 22 years. After returning to Joplin, she entered the insurance business and retired from The Insurance Center in 2011.
Marilyn married Jerry Gibson on February 15, 1980. Marilyn and Jerry were married until he passed away in June of 1992. She later married Reuben White who also preceded her in death in August of 2012.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Linda Englert; a nephew, Scott Daniels, her niece, Leslie Daniels, and, and her beloved cat, Izzy, all of Joplin.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Deacon Carol Peterson of St Philips Episcopal Church officiating. Marilyn will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jerry.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the administration and staff of the Foxberry Terrace Assisted Living for the wonderful and loving care they provided Marilyn in her last days. They would also like to express their appreciation to the administration and staff of Compassus Hospice and Gentiva Hospice groups of Joplin and those from Cornerstone Caregiving Home Care all of whom supported Marilyn and our family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Golden Paw Pet Rescue at 2300 N. Main St. in Joplin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
