Mitch Miles

Mitchell “Mitch” Eugene Miles, age 69, of Lamar, Missouri, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.

Mitch was born March 14, 1946 at Arcadia, Kansas to Eugene Miles and Shirley Dean (Kirksey). He graduated Arcadia High School in 1965 and went on to receive bachelor degree in music from Pittsburg State University. On February 10, 2005 he married Anne Shirley (Estes) at Pittsburg, Kansas. She survives of the home. Mitch had worked as a music teacher in the Jasper School System, had worked as a cosmetologist and was the Pastor of Full Faith Church in Carthage for 20 years. He enjoyed singing in the Lamar United Methodist Church Choir where he attended. Mitch also was an avid hunter and fisherman and was known for his ability to grow “The Best Tomatoes”.

In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by two daughters, Kristi Carter of Lamar and Karla (Darrin) Alumbaugh of Carthage; two sisters, Anita (Charles) Callahan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Marilyn (Steve) Snider of Pittsburg, Kansas; five grandchildren, Kirsten Miles, Brylee O’Banion, Kaden Carter, Ashleigh Alumbaugh and Cheyenne Alumbaugh. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was held 1 pm, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Lamar United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Turnbough officiating.
