Roy Campbell

Roy Burton Campbell age 97, of Joplin passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 27, 1917 in Newtonia, Kansas to Leslie Burton Campbell and Hattie May (Biddlecomb) Campbell. Roy worked for Oronogo Mutual Mining as a shovel operator, and also worked for the Webb Corp as a welder where he retired in July of 1982. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, and was also a past Grand Master Mason at the Carterville Masonic Lodge. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, crafting bird houses, and he enjoyed raising his cattle.

 Roy married Mildred Passley on February 19, 1938 and she preceded him in death on December 3, 1985. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Campbell on April 20, 2014; and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Dixie Feagans of Cassville, MO; son, Dale Campbell and wife MaryAnn of Oronogo; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Jean Campbell of Carthage; special friend, Dorothy Jean Shireman of Webb City; a special niece, Sandy Brown of Carterville; grandchildren, Kelli Pryor and husband Andrew Rosenstein, Robb Pryor, Tammy Fink and husband Joel, Chari Doty and husband Duane, Aaron Campbell, Randy Craig and wife Joni, Angie Shuster and husband Mike, Keesha Loveland and husband Mark, Kristie Forbes and spouse Johnna; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Children’s Miracle Network or the charity of your choice.
