Charles Wright

Mr. Charles Henry Wright, 77, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a sudden illness.

Charles entered this life on October 10, 1937, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, born to the union of the late Charly Q. and Vera Iva (Balcom) Wright. He was raised in northeast Oklahoma and attended Broken Arrow High School. On September 7, 1956, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Roseland J “Pat” Culp and to this union three sons and one daughter were born.

Charles joined the Air National Guard and was in full time service, ultimately stationed in Tulsa Oklahoma as a Loadmaster with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was activated during the Berlin and Cuban missile crisis era, then again later to fly delivery missions into Vietnam. After his military service, he had a career as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration. He worked in several airports in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and lastly in Fayetteville, Arkansas until retirement. He completed his college education and graduated from San Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. In addition to his federal employment he also continued his military service via the Navy and eventually the Army reserves. After retiring from the FAA he became a truck driver for a short period of time. Charlie married Blanche (Crook) Hare Howard on June 2, 2003. They resided in Enid, Oklahoma, for six years before moving to Pineville, Missouri, in 2009. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Pineville and dearly loved the fellowship of his church family.

Charles enjoyed camping and boating with his family, golf, woodworking, gardening and livestock shows. After his second marriage to Blanche, he enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Pat on December 24, 2002.

Charles is survived by his wife, Blanche Wright of the home; three sons, Ron Wright and wife, Donna, of Anderson, Missouri, Danny Wright and wife, Sharon, of Springdale, Arkansas and Randal Wright and partner, Randy Northam of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a daughter, Suzie Wright and husband, Brad, of Springdale, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three stepchildren, Diane Johnson of Enid, Oklahoma, Scott Hare also of Enid and Pam Davis of Moore, Oklahoma; four half-siblings, Robert Wright, James Wright, Denny Brumley and Gail Boswell; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Wright are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Pineville, Missouri, with Dr. Larry Crawford and Pastor Ryan Crawford officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Farmington Cemetery in Farmington, Arkansas. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Steve Hartman, Bob Cole, Dennis Pope, Charley Thacker, Wade Mitchell, Jim Rogers and Mike Smith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the First Baptist Church Children’s Ministries and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
