Michael Vylonis

(Note: Mr. Vylonis was from Michigan, came to Joplin in 1972 with a street ministry, and later formed a gospel group "Mike Vylonis & Sonrise." He was an active member of Central Christian Center for several years.)

Michael William Vylonis, 70, returned to his heavenly home on Sunday August 30, 2015. Mike was born November 20, 1944 in Alamogordo, NM. He lived a full and wonderful life, loved by many and adored by his own. His talents were multifaceted as a mechanical engineer/consultant, business owner and a singer/songwriter/arranger/musician; there was always a guitar close at hand and a song. Mike's personal relationship with his Lord was a current that flowed through every aspect of his life. Mike loved his wife, his family and his countless friends. He was a mentor to many. Walking in love, was from his very core.

He is survived by his wife, Noushin and his children, Michael Vylonis, Jeffrey Vylonis of Altamonte Springs, Fl and Mindy (Eric) Steinberg of Orlando, FL. , and grandchildren; Anissa, Jorn, Zarah, (Michael) Christian, Breana, Brielle, (Jeffrey) Zane (Mindy) and great grandchild Idris (Anissa). Step Sons Amir Khosrow Sheibany and Alex Sheibany as well as step-grandsons Aiden & Lukas (Amir).

He leaves behind his brothers John Vylonis, Dowagiac, MI, Mark Vylonis, Buchanan, MI, and sisters; Lynne Garrison, Double Springs, AL , Kathryn Jurgenson, Niles, MI and Kara Shelton, Dowagiac, MI. as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Preceding him in death were; Louise D. Thumm, mother; John Vylonis, father; and Anissa L. Houser, niece.
