Shirley Lyttle

Shirley Ann Neely Lyttle, 84, Joplin, MO, passed away Friday morning, September 4, 2015, at Spring River Christian Village, Joplin, MO. Shirley Ann Neely was born December 27, 1930 in Parsons, KS, the daughter of the late Alexander Franklin Neely and late Lillian L. (Standley) Neely. She was a graduate of Cherryvale High School, Cherryvale, KS, Class of 1949. She later attended Ozark Bible College, Joplin, MO, from 1965-1966. Shirley married Robert Allan Lyttle on July 15, 1950, he survives. Bob and Shirley celebrated 65 years of marriage this last July. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a long distance telephone operator from 1949 to 1953. She later worked for Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters; Jo Ann Lyttle Draper, Urbandale, IA, and Debra Alane Lyttle Pope (Larry), Carthage, MO; one son: Robert Aaron Lyttle, Carthage, MO; one sister; Karen Marie Turner, Fairland, OK; five grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; one brother; Alexander Franklin Neely ll; one daughter; Jan Alea Lyttle Winder; and one grandson; Bruce Daniel Winder.

Private family graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. A memorial service will then be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015, 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church, Carthage. Minister Tom Thomas, First Christian Church of Cassville, MO will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Neely-Lyttle-Turner Christian Education Scholarship Memorial Fund at Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO.
