Deanie Young

(From Meadors Funeral Home)

Edwena (Deanie) Mae Young, age 82 of Marionville, MO passed peacefully to her heavenly home on January 08, 2026, with family by her side. Deanie was born in Marionville, MO on November 08, 1943, to John and Betty Garoutte. She was the oldest of two children.

Deanie and Michael began their lives together on August 18, 1960. Their travels led them to Denver, Colorado, Wichita, Kansas and finally ending back home in McKinley, Missouri. They made their family home from a one room schoolhouse, where Deanie had attended kindergarten. Soon afterwards they began their dream of starting “Young’s Orchard."

Together as a family they worked long hours mowing, pruning, planting new trees, and selling to customers from their roadside stand. Outside of working on the orchard, Deanie had several different impactful jobs starting at the local garment factory, Mocoil making missile circuits, ending with Consumers decorating cakes. Deanie loved family time, especially traveling. As a family they took many trips to the beach and mountains.

Later in life, she loved to spend time with her mother, Betty, and her aunt Clorine trekking across the country in her Winnebago and also camping with her daughter, Tonia, and her family. When she wasn’t traveling, Deanie could be found enjoying westerns and her favorite soap opera, Days of our Lives.

Deanie was saved and baptized in 1953 at the age of 10. She was a faithful believer and attended church regularly. One of the verses she found comfort in was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

She is survived by her three children, Mike Young and wife Annette of Marionville, Tonia White and her husband Jimmy of Marionville and Scott Young and wife Paula of Nixa, Missouri, in addition to five grandchildren: Charity Parks, Courtney Young, Stephanie Chapman, Cory Young and Rachael Stauffer. Deanie has eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Michael, sister Glenda and parents John and Betty Garoutte.

Graveside services will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery in McKinley, MO on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 1 p.m. with Brother Lee Miller officiating. Pallbearers are Mike Young, Scott Young, Jimmy White, Cory Young, Dalton Parks and Davin Parks.
