Kevin Kreighbaum

Kevin Lee Kreighbaum, 69, Joplin, MO, passed away on January 9, 2026 in Joplin, MO. He was born on January 19, 1956, in Carthage, MO. to the late Jack and Virginia Kreighbaum.

Kevin's journey as a diesel mechanic showcased his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. His career spanned several years, during which he became a familiar and respected figure in the automotive community. His expertise led him to a fulfilling role at Auto Zone in his later years, where he continued to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow car enthusiasts.








One of the highlights of Kevin's career was his time as the starting line starter at MOKAN, where he was a pivotal part of the drag racing scene. His presence at the track was always a source of excitement and anticipation for racers and spectators alike.

Beyond his professional life, Kevin was an avid tinkerer, always ready to get his hands dirty under the hood of a car. He took particular pride in working on his son Matt's Camaro. His passion for cars extended to driving Piggy Back Trucks. Above all, he was the proudest great-grandpa.




Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Laura Kreighbaum; children, Amanda Windmeyer (Justin), Matthew Kreighbaum (Laura), Megan Pitts (Allister), and Kaitlyn Pletcher (Tyler); grandchildren, Nikhia, Bryce, Jadon, Riley, and Haley; great-grandson, Paxton; siblings, Diane Wolfe (Greg), and Julie (Jeff) Edelman.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO. The family invites friends for a time of visitation prior to the service at noon.
