Bert Parsons

Mr. Earnest Berton “Bert” Parsons, Sr., 75, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, May 29, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Bert entered this life on June 12, 1941, near Lanagan, Missouri, son of the late Leslie Cecil and Beatrice (Hudgens) Parsons. Bert was a lifelong area resident. On December 14, 1959, he was united in marriage to Martha Elizabeth Dollar and together they have shared the last fifty-seven years. For over thirty years he was employed by Branco Construction, retiring as job site superintendent. He was a longtime active member and deacon of Moss Church in Anderson. He enjoyed a hard day’s work, fellowship with his church family, reading his Bible and singing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bert Parsons, Jr., a grandson, Bubba Parsons; two brothers, Raymond and Elmer Parsons; and two sisters, Ella Mae Tomlinson and Dorothy Shoptaw.

Bert is survived by his wife, Martha Parsons of the home; four sons, Leslie Parsons and wife, Donna, of Anderson, Russell Schroeder and wife, Jennifer, of Floey, Alabama, Eddie Parsons and wife, Kim, of Wyandotte, Oklahoma and Keith Parsons and wife, Amber, of Anderson; a daughter, Joanna Sears and husband, Monnie, also of Anderson; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Velma Ottendorf and husband, Merle, of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Parsons are 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Holloway and Bro. Monnie Sears officiating. Burial will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Leslie Parsons, Russell Schroeder, Eddie Parsons, Keith Parsons, Carter Flory and Tim Baker. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
