Norma Gideon

Mrs. Norma Geane Gideon, 85, of Granby, Missouri, formerly of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Granby House Care Center after months of declining health.

Norma entered this life on October 22, 1931, on a farm in Otoe, Nebraska, born to the late Augustus and Amanda (Anderson) Meyer. She moved with her family to Noel, Missouri, as a child. On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Andrew Gideon and to this union four children were born. In 1960, they moved to the Bunker Hill Community in McDonald County where they owned and operated Bunker Hill Grocery for several years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking and aggravating her son in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Gideon on September 17, 2003; a daughter, Sharon Gideon; a grandson, James McCully; two brothers, Ed and Donald Meyer; and two sisters, Laverne Kennison and Betty Womack.

Norma is survived by her three children, Karen McCully and husband, Frank, of Granby, Missouri, Larry Gideon and wife, Diana, of Baxter Springs, Kansas and Florence Belt and husband, John, of Fairview, Missouri; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gideon are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Buddy Funk officiating. Burial will follow in the Tracy Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Frankie McCully, Nichols Sutherland, Jealousy Sutherland, Amanda York, Ken York and Stephanie McCully.
