Robert Lee "Bob" Arnold, III, age 88, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Mercy of Joplin.
Bob was born February 8, 1930 in Joplin, son of the late Robert Lee Arnold, Jr. and Florence Troutman Arnold. Bob graduated from Joplin High School in 1950 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with the Chemical Battalion Corp. He returned to Joplin where he worked as an Industrial Pattern Maker for Missouri Steel, Floyd Wade Pattern Shop, and also for North American Foundry in Fort Smith, Arkansas before retiring and returning to Joplin.
Bob married Medora Williams on May 30, 1953 in Joplin. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2002. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Wilma, Mayla, and Elizabeth.
Bob sang with the Joplin City Choir for many years and also in his church's choir at Bethany Presbyterian Church. He was an avid painter and also enjoyed woodworking. Bob remained very active following his retirement, spending time with his 1950 classmates, volunteering at the Joplin Library, and taking long drives to nearby towns to try local restaurants. He was the Missouri Volunteer of the Year in 2012. He will be greatly missed by many people.
Survivors include his children, Matt Arnold and wife Eliseia of Rogers, Arkansas, and Rebecca Arnold of San Diego, California.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Parker Mortuary Chapel.
