Loman L Olds, age 89, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Joplin Health and Rehab, Joplin, MO following an illness.
Loman was born November 5, 1928 in Galena, KS. He was one of twelve children born to Dorsey and Maggie (Spears) Olds. He had lived in Galena most of his life.
He served in the U S Army in 1946 and 1947. Most of his working life he was employed at cement companies either driving cement trucks for Haliburton in Wyoming or working in the batch house at Joplin Cement Co. He enjoyed playing guitar and camping. He was and was a “Jack-of-all-trades.” And could work on anything since he was a welder and carpenter. In later years, he enjoyed going to the casino where he could visit with friends.
Loman was married to Imogene Smith on February 27, 1948 in Long Beach, CA. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Charles E Olds (wife, Dawn), Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Loma A Simpson, Pittsburg, KS; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He parents and eleven siblings preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Pastor Fred Vogel will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
