John E. Myers, age 94, Joplin, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at his home after an illness.
John was born December 20, 1923 in Mason City, Illinois and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
John was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as an officer after twenty two years of service. He served during World War II and was awarded several medals and citations. He then worked at King Press in Joplin for twenty years. Following retirement, he enjoyed going fishing at the lake; hunting; gardening and his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
John was preceded by his wife, Doris Faye Young.
He is survived by three sons, John Myers, Tom D. Myers and Chris Myers, all of Joplin; one brother, David Myers, Mason City, Illinois; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for 1:00 p.m. Monday, at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
