Barbara Baert

Barbara J. Baert, age 78, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness

Barbara was born May 14, 1939 in Centralia, Washington, daughter of the late Chester Ohlhausen and Allie Green Ohlhausen. She moved to Pittsburg, Kansas as a child, and graduated from Pittsburg High School. She was a devoted Mary Kay Sales Director for over 30 years. She was a member of Small Business Group, and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin. She was also very involved with her church where she was a Priesthood member of Community of Christ.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth Ohlhausen, Bill Ohlhausen, and six sisters, Violet Huse, Betty Richards, Ruth Holloway, Shirley Bowen, Wanda Dowty, and Donna Nesbitt.

Survivors include her lifelong companion, David Baert; their children, Julie Stewart and Dave of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Beth Brooks of Carthage, Joe Baert and Christine of Carl Junction, Jack Baert and Shelly of Joplin, Jeff Baert of Carl Junction; sister, Linda Crane and Jim of Independence, Missouri, brother, Gary Ohlhausen and Mary Ann of Vaccaville, California; 11 grandchildren, Kelsie Osnes and Gavin, Sarah Massey and Zach, Hank DePriest and Kara, Cherona Hicklin and Robin, Tara Fritchey and Isaac, Lindsey Olds and Justin, Abby Fleming and Beau, Justin Baert and Kayla, Kristi Johnston and Jason, Sherry Connaly, and Tequila Harper; 16 great-grandchildren, Hadley, Myles, Carson, Damon, Gunner, Case, Nolan, Blayne, Emma, Alleah, Payzlee, Axle, Zane, Gabby, Lanni, and Bailey; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Community of Christ, 1212 Goetz Blvd., with Pastor Terry McDermid officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Community of Christ on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
