Fred Bailey

Fred Joseph Bailey 70, of Frontenac, KS died 9:56am Friday February 9, 2018 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO following a long illness. 

Fred was born November 15, 1947 in Frontenac, KS the son of Basil Elmer and Loren Elizabeth (Chulk) Bailey. Fred was a lifelong resident of Frontenac and a graduate of Frontenac High School in 1966. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army serving in Germany from August 1967 until July 1969. On April 19, 1969 Fred married Martha Ann (Snow) in Cherokee, KS; she survives at the home. In Fred’s early years he worked for Pallucca’s Grocery Store in Frontenac, KS and later the City of Frontenac for 30 years as the Water and Street Superintendent. 

Fred was baptized Methodist. He enjoyed spending time at the river fishing; was known as an outdoorsman; enjoyed hunting; gardening and a member of the American Legion Frontenac, KS. He was also known to be a loving husband, father and grandfather. Fred will be most remembered as a man that was liked by anyone that he met. 

Survivors include his wife; children Michael Bailey (Beetle) and companion Andrea Hinton of Bullfrog Valley, AR and Amy Hall and husband Kevin of Pittsburg, KS; sisters Juanita Bailey of Frontenac, KS and Mary Redd and husband Danny of Frontenac, KS; grandchildren Kailey Hall of Joplin, MO and Kolby Hall of Pittsburg, KS and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom Bailey and sister Barbara Rogel. 

Memorial Services will be 6:30pm Thursday February 15, 2018 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS with Pastor Annie Ricker officiating. Burial will be at a private date at Frontenac City Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.friskelfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Friskel Funeral Home Frontenac, KS.
