Marjorie North

Marjorie Ilene North, 91, of Columbus, KS passed from this life on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Medicalodge Grand Villas, Columbus, KS.

Marjorie was born on November 24, 1926 in Granby, MO to the union of William Henry and Mary Lucinda (Sanders) Bettes. Marjorie was united in marriage to Walter E. North on December 6, 1941 in Joplin, MO.

Marjorie was a nurse and worked fifteen years at Maude Norton Hospital, working as an assistant x-ray technician the last three year. She then spent several years working in the private practice of Dr. Jones. Marjorie was an avid reader of romance novels. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking her famous homemade bread and rolls, along with her homemade noodles that were next to none. She always looked forward to good Mexican food. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Columbus, KS.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Bettes; one son, Walter A. North; two brothers, Fred Bettes and Bill Bettes.

Marjorie is survived by one daughter, Karon Robison and husband Bud of Columbus, KS; one son, Terry North and wife Sara of Galena, KS; two brothers, Ron Bettes, and Alan Bettes; two sisters, Janice Coady and husband John, and Opal Fielder and husband Rex; six grandchildren, Sheree Woods (Kurtis), Shantel Baisden (Chris), Sharla Reynolds (Roger), Mara Frederick (Paul), Megan Robins (Aaron), and Ashley North; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 at Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS. Pastor Jake Stivers will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Columbus Library in care of the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service are Chris Baisden, Kurtis Woods, Roger Reynolds, Aaron Robins, Paul Frederick, and Brice Reynolds.
