Maxine Gammon

Leora “Maxine” Gammon, age 92, of Joplin passed away February 11, 2018 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center. 

 Maxine was born July 22, 1925 in Topeka, Ks, the daughter of Eri and Elizabeth (Graves) Hansford. She was a retired RN who had many years of service having worked as a nurse for the Army, as well as Eagle Picher and Good Year. She also held the position of nursing director. Maxine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Joplin. She was very involved in her community having served as an election poll worker. She was also very devoted to genealogy in Joplin. Before her failing health, Maxine owned and operated a ceramic shop in Carl Junction. 

 Maxine is survived by her grandson, Michael Gammon and his wife Dawn of Webb City, 6 great grandchildren a niece, Paulette Roberts of Webb City. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gammon in 2014. Maxine has been taken for cremation with services at a later date.
