Charlie Leister

Mr. William Charles “Charlie” Leister, 82, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2018, in the comfort of his home.

Charlie entered this life on April 8, 1935, in Altus, Oklahoma, son of the late Daily Odell and Leona Mae (Catron) Leister. He was raised and attended school in Altus. On September 10, 1958, Charlie enlisted and served his country faithfully in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he relocated to Tyler, Texas. For twenty-eight years he was employed by Trane Manufacturing, retiring in 1997. In 2014, he moved from Chandler, Texas, to Pineville, Missouri. He enjoyed cooking BBQ and desserts, visiting with his friends, swimming at the Wellness Center in Rogers, model car collecting, spending time in his yard and traveling. He was a member of the Whittenberg Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wives, Thilma and Laura Leister.

Charlie is survived by his three children, Charles W. Leister of Castroville, Texas, David W. Leister of Pineville, Missouri and Sayonara Ameling and husband, Dan, of Pineville, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Juanna Oldham of Chandler, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, David Leon Leister and wife, Nancy, of Orion, Michigan and Gene Leister and wife, Laura, of Altus, Oklahoma; two sisters, Carolyn Carlsen and husband, Dan, of Altus, Oklahoma and Odella Bell of Blair, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

A memorial services will be held on Thursday afternoon, February 22, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Jamey Cope officiating. Burial will take place at the Cathedral In The Pines Cemetery in Tyler, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the McDonald County Crosslines c/o the funeral home.
